The Building Bridges programme is an NHS funded partnership for Refugee Health Professionals living in London. We assist refugee doctors to re-qualify to UK standards and secure employment appropriate to their professional qualifications.
We help refugee doctors to:
- Prepare for Occupational English Test (OET)
- Refresh medical knowledge and skills before taking PLAB Part 1 and Part 2 exams
- Improve the language and communication skills
- Prepare for working in the NHS
- Familiarise with UK medical procedures and systems through clinical attachments
- Obtain professional registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Understand recruitment processes in the UK and develop the necessary skills
- Find employment through the CAPS (Clinical Apprenticeship Scheme) or other routes
- Develop and maintain a strong peer-to-peer network to share experience and provide emotional, social or practical help to each other

- PLAB exam preparations assistance with free access to the Skills Lab (OSCE stations for PLAB Part 2)

- Financial support to help with the cost of travel, childcare and exam fees
- Continued support while settling in a new job
Who it's for
You can access this service if you:
- Are a qualified refugee health professional who would like to practice in the UK
- Have the right to work in the UK (refugees, refugee spouses, former refugees who gained British citizenship) and asylum seekers with permission to work
- Live in London
