Those who have travelled to the UK continue to face challenges, with many living in limbo in hotels and split from their families. Read the stories of some of these individuals below.

Zahra's story

Zahra is a journalist and women’s rights activist from Afghanistan who had to escape from Kabul to the UK in August 2021.

A year later, Zahra enrolled in an online journalism course and attends English language classes, but she hopes to study for a master’s degree and revive her career. She has written about her experience, which you can read here.
