One million pounds is available from the ‘Challenge Fund’, which provides finance for projects that address specific social needs among refugee communities around the country. Last year, £500,000 was awarded to 20 diverse projects around the UK. The Challenge Fund is part of the Home Office’s Refugee Integration Strategy, which was launched on 2nd November 2000.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 28 February 2002; a shortlist of organisations may be asked to provide more detailed information at a later date.
