Plans to cut the level of asylum support received by families have been abandoned following an outcry from refugee agencies.
Earlier this week, the Home Office had announced that all destitute asylum seekers awaiting a decision on their claim would now receive the same weekly allowance of £36.95 per person.
However, before it has even been implemented, this potentially devastating policy has fortunately been abandoned.
All asylum seekers receiving Section 95 support will continue to receive current levels of support, aside from single adults who will see an increase in their support of 33p a week.
