The voices behind the asylum myths – Reading

Refugee Action and Reading Refugee Support Group invite you to a session to talk about who refugees and asylum seekers are. This event will be on Wednesday 10th of February 2010 from 1.30 to 4.30pm at the RISC Conference Hall in Reading, Berkshire.

A short film about the reasons why people flee their country will be presented. A presentation, group discussion about the subject, question and answer session will follow. Refugee Community Organisations will be there to talk about their work.

At the end of the day you will have a better understanding of the issues that make people leave their country and the difficulties refugees and asylum seekers face when trying to settle here in the UK.

This event is an essential introduction for service providers, like councils or voluntary services, funders or grants officers, advice providers, social workers and community service providers. Refugee community organisations are welcome to attend.

Places are limited so please RSVP as soon as possible. Places will be allocated in a first come first served basis.

This is event is FREE. Light refreshments will be provided.
