It’s great to work with people you get along with, but even better to work with people who amaze and inspire you. Jade, one of the Campaigns Department volunteers has just had her autobiographical story published and on Monday we all went along to the book launch at the Penguin office in the Strand.
Jade’s tale is the most moving, powerful story I have read in a long time. Forced to flee Uganda after suffering horrendous torture and having her family violently torn apart, Jade arrived in the UK, was granted asylum and has since pieced her life back together again with incredible strength.
Her story is part of a collection about the personal face of the immigrant experience, From There To Here. Every voice in the book is strong and every story is captivating. But don’t just take my word for it – the Guardian has also given it a great review here.
It will be available to buy soon and I think makes a perfect Christmas present!
