Ukrainian Therapeutic Service – Sheffield

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROJECT IS CLOSED FROM 31 MARCH 2025

Refugee Council’s therapeutic service in Sheffield established a Ukraine Therapy Project in December 2022, offering counselling and play therapy to support children, young people, families and adults from the Ukrainian community who have arrived on the Homes for Ukraine and Family Visa schemes.

The service is able to offer support to all Ukrainian refugees living in Sheffield who are experiencing some form of emotional distress.

The team are working with a group of qualified interpreters who have been specially trained to work in therapeutic settings.

The Ukraine Therapy Project have a resettlement worker who offers an assessment to all new clients and provides support and advocacy with practical and social problems such as housing, welfare benefits, employment or education.

The Sheffield Ukraine Therapy Project will be closing at the end of March 2025, as our funding for the project finishes. We are currently awaiting confirmation that a small project offering therapy to Ukrainian children will start in April 2025, and we will announce this when we know more.

From the 31 January 2025, we will no longer be accepting referrals for therapy and all existing client appointments will be concluded by 26 March 2025.

If you live in Sheffield and you would like to talk to a member of the team about where to seek support and advice, please email us at therapeutic.sheffield@refugeecouncil.org.uk
