IT Support Volunteers, Hertfordshire - Refugee Council

IT Support Volunteers, Hertfordshire

Time commitment:

2 hours a week during a minimum period of 6 months

Main role:

Plan and deliver IT support sessions with resettled refugees

Further information:

As an IT Support Volunteer you will offer one-to-one support  to a newly arrived refugee on their journey to learn and navigate the English language through the use of online resources. There is also the opportunity to work in groups to help clients develop their IT skills during the Drop In sessions we hold each week. We have many clients who either attend ESOL classes and would like support to practice or clients who are unable to attend classes and want to advance their English skills in their own homes. We have a range of materials available for lessons, a wealth of dedicated volunteers to share knowledge and we offer ongoing support from Refugee Council. We are looking for volunteers available for 1-2 hours a week across Hertfordshire. Successful applicants will be matched with a client and an initial introduction will be conducted including arrangements for ongoing lessons and reviews, a discussion regarding a lesson plan and information relating to what support will be offered by Refugee Council. To acknowledge the dedicated support from our incredible volunteers, you will also receive regular supervisions, invitations to quarterly celebratory events and trainings.
